Solent Hospitality welcomes an Olympic sailor on board

Big news from Pickled Egg's sister company; Solent Hospitality  this week! It’s always great to welcome a new team member on board, but our latest recruit is a little bit special. We are delighted to be working with ex-Olympic sailor Christina Bassadone. She’s going to be working with us on sailing days as a celebrity skipper and special guest.

Christina is a great girl with bags of enthusiasm and has some corking stories to tell. Believe me, you’ll want to hear about competing at the Olympics and the World Championships, and about some of the team’s antics when they were out of the water!

She started sailing aged seven in a Mirror dinghy from Itchenor Sailing Club near Chichester, which is just down the road from our offices. It wasn’t long before she was competing at a national level, notching up title after title.
She competed in the 2004 Athens Olympics aged 22, before picking up a silver medal at the World Championships in 2005 and a bronze at the 2007 World Championships. She was the world number one in her class in 2006 and 2007, and competed at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 (once the seaweed had been cleared out of the way!).
So, as you can see, this is quite some sailor. And, as you can probably tell, we’re all very excited about Christina working with us.
